Adolescent Intensive Outpatient

Boy seeks answers at Frisco adolescent intensive outpatient program | Waterford Counseling

The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient program at Waterford Counseling focuses on a cognitive behavioral approach. Our adolescent intensive outpatient program is geared towards helping individuals achieve abstinence on their journey towards recovery.

Our structured curriculum consists of understanding chemical dependency issues, struggles with mental health issues, communication breakdowns, anger management, process and education groups, identifying triggers and relapse prevention, medication management with a psychiatrist, developing healthy coping skills, individual and family therapy, family relationship building & substance use alternatives. We help families understand the complexities of dual diagnosis in teens and find solutions.

With the significant changes in the physical attendance requirements due to Covid exposure at our local middle and high schools, Waterford Counseling offers two times for stepping down clients to Intensive Outpatient programming.

This program includes a minimum of 3 hours of therapy on Monday-Wednesday-Thursday, twice a month visits with a psychiatrist and or his nurse practitioner, weekly individual therapy and family therapy as needed. While group therapy is the primary framework, each child also receives weekly individual counseling and family therapy.

Programming times begin at 1 pm to 4 pm and allows more flexibility for teens to attend treatment and maintain a part-time job.
